The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has announced its participation in a $132 million Series B funding round for Artbio, a U.S.-based company specializing in the development of innovative radiopharmaceutical therapies for cancer treatment.
This marks the sovereign wealth fund’s first investment in Artbio, which is focused on developing a new generation of targeted alpha radiotherapies (ARTs) designed to precisely and effectively treat a wide range of cancers.
The round was co-led by Sofinnova Investments and B Capital, and included participation from a life sciences-focused investment fund that had previously invested in Artbio, as well as existing investors such as F-Prime, Omega Funds, and Third Rock Ventures. Alexandria Venture Investments also joined as a new investor.
According to Artbio, the new funding will accelerate and expand its clinical programs, driving forward the development of its advanced targeted radiotherapies that offer a promising approach in the fight against cancer.
This move aligns with QIA’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the biotechnology and healthcare innovation sectors. Earlier this month, the fund also invested $250 million in Karidum, a company specializing in advanced healthcare solutions.
