Saudi Arabia’s Shgardi delivery app has officially announced the termination of its operations after six years in the market.
The app, owned by Safri Trading and Marketing Company, based in Al Khobar, stated that the decision came as a result of intense market competition and price-dumping policies that made it difficult to sustain profitable operations.
According to the company, Shgardi successfully completed over 7 million orders, serving more than 3 million customers across 35 cities and provinces in the Kingdom since its launch in early 2020, with a capital of SAR 12 million.
The closure of Shgardi highlights the mounting challenges faced by local delivery startups amid fierce competition and market consolidation, emphasizing the need for sustainable business models that balance price, quality, and service in Saudi Arabia’s growing delivery sector.
