Bahrain Signs MoU with Eve Air Mobility to Develop eVTOL Ecosystem and Advance Sustainable Aviation

His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, affirmed that the MoU signed with Eve Air Mobility reflects Bahrain’s strong commitment to establishing itself as a regional center for excellence and innovation in aviation.He emphasized that this strategic partnership represents a major step toward realizing safe and sustainable air mobility in Bahrain, the Gulf region, and globally. The collaboration with Eve—a trusted global partner in electric vertical aircraft development—demonstrates Bahrain’s dedication to building a sustainable aviation ecosystem and supporting its transition toward an innovative, eco-friendly future.

Agreement Signed During Gateway Gulf Investor Forum 2025

The agreement was signed during the Gateway Gulf Investor Forum 2025 in Bahrain between the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and Eve Air Mobility, a company listed on both the New York Stock Exchange and B3 São Paulo.
The partnership aims to advance sustainable air mobility solutions and develop Bahrain’s eVTOL ecosystem, focusing on regulatory readiness, operational integration, and infrastructure development to support next-generation aviation technologies.

Building a Future-Ready Air Mobility Framework

The MoU seeks to accelerate Bahrain’s readiness for advanced air mobility operations through the establishment of a testing environment for new systems, alongside the development of scalable, safe vertiports.
The initiative emphasizes zero-emission and low-noise operations, as well as training national talent to support the sustainable aviation sector.
According to the roadmap, test flights are set to begin in 2027, followed by commercial operations in 2028, and international routes by 2029.

Eve Air Mobility’s Perspective

Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility, described the signing as a historic milestone in advancing sustainable air mobility across the Middle East.
He noted that Bahrain’s vision to become a hub for innovation and clean transport aligns perfectly with Eve’s mission to reimagine the future of urban and regional mobility in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible way.
Bordais added that the collaboration will lay the groundwork for a robust eVTOL operations network that will connect communities and unlock new economic opportunities in the region.

Expansion Plans Across the Middle East

Eve is currently conducting feasibility studies for premium and tourism-focused air mobility routes in several regional cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Istanbul, and Manama. These routes aim to provide fast, convenient, and unique travel experiences for residents and visitors alike.

Eve’s eVTOL aircraft feature cutting-edge technologies customized for the Middle Eastern climate, including:
