Last month, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones inaugurated the headquarters of the Entrepreneurship and Startups Unit and launched the unit’s online platform.

This initiative aims to engage with entrepreneurs, understand the challenges they face, and gather their suggestions and ideas for developing suitable solutions to enhance Egypt’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Additionally, a voluntary advisory council, entirely composed of private sector representatives and entrepreneurs, was formed to assist the unit in proposing supportive policies, laws, and regulations for the growth and prosperity of startups in Egypt.

Dr. Mohamed Fahmy announced that the council’s work plan will be ready soon, including recommendations for improving the entrepreneurial environment in Egypt and aligning entrepreneurship activities with the “Egypt Vision 2030” development strategy.

Hossam Heiba stated that the Authority will collaborate with the advisory council to promote an entrepreneurial culture within the government, coordinate with various entities to provide necessary facilitation for the sector, and support partnerships with advanced countries in aiding startups.

Additionally, the Authority will allocate new headquarters for the Entrepreneurship Support Unit in the General Free Zones of Nasr City and Alexandria, with plans to establish similar units in all the Authority’s general free zones in the near future.1/2
