The acquisition aims to build a fully integrated, tech-enabled circular economy platform in the Middle East.

Cartlow has recycled over 1 million electronic devices, preventing 100,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to removing over 21,000 cars from the road for a year.
Basatne, a company specializing in sustainable commerce and reverse logistics solutions, has announced its acquisition of Cartlow, the UAE-based leader in recommerce and device lifecycle management. This strategic move strengthens Basatne’s footprint in the Middle East and accelerates the shift toward a more efficient, tech-driven circular economy.
By leveraging Cartlow’s proprietary technology and market leadership, Basatne plans to expand its impact through a closed-loop ecosystem that promotes responsible consumption and reuse of electronic products.
A Unified Vision for Circular Innovation
In 2023, Basatne launched Ardroid, the region’s first AI- and robotics-powered refurbishment facility in the UAE. Speaking on the acquisition, Ammar Abunnasr, Founder and CEO of Basatne, said:
“With Cartlow joining the fold, we’re building a seamless circular system that enables markets to transact efficiently while advancing a scalable and structured circular economy.”
Proven Environmental Impact
To date, Cartlow has recycled over 1 million electronic devices, preventing the emission of more than 100,000 metric tons of CO₂—an environmental impact equivalent to taking 21,000 cars off the road for an entire year. The platform has generated over AED 500 million in value by extending product lifecycles, emphasizing the economic and ecological benefits of sustainable trade.
Addressing the E-Waste Crisis
The acquisition comes amid a rising e-waste crisis in the region. The Middle East produces over 3 million metric tons of electronic waste annually, with the UAE ranking among the top countries in per capita e-waste generation.
Scaling Circular Trade
Basatne and Cartlow are poised to lead the regional recommerce market, which is expected to exceed $30 billion by 2028. Their combined expertise positions them to redefine the future of tech-enabled, responsible commerce.
The move aligns with key sustainability agendas, including UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy and Saudi Vision 2030, both of which emphasize environmental responsibility, digital transformation, and economic diversification.
As the UAE emerges as a hub for green technology and sustainable business, Basatne and Cartlow’s partnership will accelerate the circular economy shift, equipping businesses, retailers, and consumers with the tools to adopt more ethical and sustainable practices.
