The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has officially announced the launch of Google Pay in the Kingdom through the national Mada payment network, during the Money20/20 Middle East Conference and Exhibition held at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center in Mulham. This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation in the financial sector and promote innovation in payment solutions.
Through this initiative, the Central Bank aims to further develop the Kingdom’s digital payments ecosystem in line with the objectives of the Financial Sector Development Program—one of the key pillars of Saudi Vision 2030. The initiative also seeks to build a strong digital payments infrastructure, reduce reliance on cash, and adhere to international standards in delivering modern technological solutions.
Google Pay allows users to easily and securely add and manage Mada cards and digital credit cards via the Google Wallet app, enhancing financial inclusion while encouraging banks and financial institutions to deliver innovative payment solutions across smart devices.
